Wins Four Additional BOMA Awards

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apr. 23, 2018-- SL Green Realty Corp. (NYSE: SLG), New York City’s largest office landlord, announced today that it has received the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award for Sustained Excellence at the EPA’s 2018 Awards ceremony on April 20, 2018. Additionally, SL Green won the Building Owners and Managers Association’s (BOMA) “Earth Award” for 1515 Broadway, the “Renovated Building of the Year Award” for 280 Park Avenue, and two “Outstanding Building of the Year” (TOBY) awards for 810 7th Avenue and 635-641 6th Avenue.

SL Green received the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for Sustained Excellence from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in recognition of its extensive tenant outreach, education programs, and for widespread promotion of ENERGY STAR tools and best practices. This award recognizes SL Green’s achievement of ENERGY STAR labels across 9.1 million square feet, representing 8% of all Manhattan labels. This is the fourth year SL Green has been named an ENERGY STAR Partner.

“The ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence award is a tremendous validation of our efforts to build, renovate, and finance the future of New York City while seeking to create the greenest footprint achievable across our portfolio,” said Marc Holliday, SL Green’s Chief Executive Officer.

“Building upon Real Estate Finance & Investment’s ‘REIT of the Year – Sustainability’ award win for the second consecutive year, we believe these accolades are the result of the hard work and dedication of SL Green’s best-in-class operations team,” said Edward V. Piccinich, SL Green’s Chief Operating Officer. “As always, we are very proud of the superior efforts of our team at all levels and look forward to their continued professional recognition.”

BOMA’s “Earth Award” recognizes 1515 Broadway’s robust sustainability program, which includes a $130 million investment across 17 efficiency initiatives. In partnership with anchor tenant Viacom, SL Green pursued LEED-CI certifications on multiple floors, retrofit all spaces with LED lighting, and implemented a building management system (BMS) to track and improve the building's energy performance. These initiatives have generated a 25% energy reduction across the asset, and was certified LEED Gold in 2017. SL Green’s joint venture partner in the building, Allianz Real Estate, was also present to celebrate the win.

The “Renovated Building of the Year Award” recognizes 280 Park Avenue for its $138 million redevelopment program, which was completed in 2016. Alongside joint venture partner, Vornado Realty Trust (NYSE: VNO), and in conjunction with CBRE and KPF Architects, SL Green re-positioned 280 Park Avenue by attracting a premier tenant roster of prominent companies and positively impacting the real estate community.

The 2018 “Middle Atlantic Region Outstanding Building of the Year” TOBY Award went to 810 7th Avenue in the 500,000 – 1 million square feet category and the “Middle Atlantic Region Outstanding Building of the Year” TOBY Award to 635-641 6th Avenue in the Renovated Building category.
